Cut reclaimed paper.
Flax revived a technique of representational collage that she originally developed in her twenties. She uses reclaimed paper (recycling magazines, catalogs and calendars) and cuts each piece into a particular shape, and applies it with archival glue.
Recently, her work was selected from 1500 submissions for “Fiber Reimagined” and was featured in Fiber Arts Now magazine. She is also the illustrator of a children’s book, If I Were a Bumble Bee (2021).
